" He's going to Iraq." Mom face was shocked in a mask of terror. Then she ran. Kay Lynn's eyes filled with tears. Alison bowed her head.
"I am sorry." The soldier whispered. He tipped his helmet and left us. We went to bed sadly. My friends stayed the night to comfort my family. Soon everyone was calmly, asleep, but me. I didn't feel sleep or want it. All I really wanted was dad's smiling face and his big bear hugs. I clinged to the thought. I knew reality would soon take it away. I closed my eyes, waiting for the dream.
